Hydrogen Vans

Free Fuel
Imagine driving a van that never needs to refuel at a gas station. This is the magic that hydrogen power delivers. At Deep States™ our engineering team is prototyping a hydrogen-powered van that self-refuels, for free, using integrated solar panels. This is perfect for neo-nomads and renegade hackers. Find yourself a nice spot to park your van in the sun, and watch as its hydrogen tanks magically replenish.
Solar Electrolysis
As you probably know, hydrogen can be produced from water, via electrolysis. This chemical process is typically conducted in a static workshop. However, Deep States™ vans have a hydrogen-electrolysis 'capacitor' built-in. This gives the van infinite range, although not instantaneous range. If you have enough time to wait for the hydrogen-electrolysis system to create fuel, there's no end to your journey.
Decentralized Driving
Neo-nomads are a new generation of citizen, unbound by a specific-workplace. They live out of vans and trucks equipped with a telecommunications system. Neo-nomads typically park their vans in a location, perhaps Montana, and live and work in the local area. Once recharged, they drive their van onward. The Deep States™ hydrogen van is designed specifically for this type of highly-evolved nomad.
Endless Summers
The benefits of living in a hydrogen van include the ability to migrate across-country to enjoy warmer seasonal-weather, and the possibility of rapid evacuation of all belongings, and home, in the event of political chaos. Over many weeks, the electrolysis 'capacitor' on a Deep States™ van can be trickle-charged by the sun. This makes it perfect for months on the road; or even a lifetime.
Return to Nature
Humanity is fundamentally a nomadic species. This lifestyle fostered adaptability, physical fitness, and a connection to nature. The concept of static housing is rooted in agricultural settlements that emerged only 10,000 years ago. It is unlikely to be the optimal form of habitation. To replace static-housing, our vans have infinite driving range, provided you have access to sunlight, and lots of time to trickle-charge.
Built for Neo-Nomads

For the vast majority of humanity's 300,000-year existence on planet Earth, we lived as hunter-gatherers, constantly on the move in search of food, water, and safety. Traditional-housing no longer suits an emerging demographic of young explorers who seek the freedom, flexibility, and environmental credibility of a clean-burn hydrogen-van life. We've designed our van for the next-generation of neo-nomad.

Sunbathe to Refuel

Given access to sunlight and water, it is possible to refuel our hydrogen vans anywhere in the world. An on-board solar array gathers energy from sunlight and uses it for electrolysis. This electrolysis process generates hydrogen from water, over weeks, and stores it for use as fuel.
Unlike legacy electric or gasoline powered vehicles, the Deep States™ hydrogen van does not require any road-side infrastructure to refuel. Electric cars require charging stations, and gasoline cars require gas stations. Our hydrogen vans, however, require only sunlight and water.
The unique way that the Deep States™ hydrogen van is refueled means that neo-nomads can travel deep into territory with almost zero infrastructure. Provided there is sunlight and access to a river, stream, or similar water supply, there is no limit to your driving distance in our vans.
We're in the third major wave of van-life culture. The first wave was the movement of wagons cross-country from the east to the west coast of the USA. These early van-lifers were fleeing the tyranny of the European monarchies, driven by the promise of the Gold Rush, freedom, and love.
Van life exploded for a second-time in the late 70s and throughout the 1980s, when custom vans with airbrushed-graphics and private-jet style interiors carved their V8-engine-contrails across the USA. This was the high-point of van-design, until now, embodied in iconic forms and huge wheelbases.
Today, van life is enjoying its third-wave. A highly-intelligent generation failed by establishment-policies has broken free of its cage. These neo-nomads and hacker-drifters roam like eagles. They drive modded 80s-vans or covert 'sleeper' vehicles with on-board telecommunications systems.
